    Generic texts are those that do not belong to a specific field and do not have specific technical terminology. Some examples are advertising flyers, correspondence letters or e-mails, CVs and notices. In reality, each text is unique and specific in its genre, and to perform a quality translation, one must always recognise the audience to which the text is directed and the desired effect of the author. Thanks to my training in translation science, which includes asking the right questions in order to better understand the desired meaning to convey, I know how to place the text in the most appropriate context and produce a translation that makes the translated text live up to the original.

  • Specialist Texts

    Texts defined as specialised belong to a specific technical field and have a high terminological complexity.

    Thanks to careful terminology research, my experience and my high-level academic training, I can translate user manuals, instruction manuals, medical reports and other types of specialised texts for you.

  • Conference Documents

    Often when organising a conference or convention attended by a multilingual audience, it is necessary to translate presentations, minutes, handouts or other types of documents so that all participants can use them.

  • Websites

    When addressing an international audience, it becomes essential to have your website translated into the customer's language. Making your potential customers feel at home on your site is essential to promoting your services.     To ensure that the text is perceived as if it were written by a native speaker, I only proofread texts in my mother tongue: Italian. Have you written a text in Italian (or had it translated by an automatic translator) and want to be sure that there are no errors and that the text is pleasant to read? I can help you not only to eliminate grammatical errors, but also to identify problems with structure, punctuation and spelling and the general flow or register of the text.

Prices

The price of a translation or interpreting assignment depends on many factors. When planning a multilingual event, pricing is undoubtedly a decisive factor. Below you will find some information on the price composition of my language services..

Conference Interpreting

A daily rate is usually charged for interpreting assignments. However, it is difficult to give a general price as it depends on factors such as preparation time, duration of the assignment, the need to hire technical equipment as well as any travel expenses. Under the right circumstances, I would not hesitate to charge a flat rate for an event over several days or weeks.

Certified Interpreting

For sworn interpreting assignments with notaries, authorities or at court, an hourly rate (§ 9 JVEG, Judicial Remuneration and Compensation Act) applies, for both consecutive and simultaneous interpreting. Travel time is remunerated at the same rate.

Translation & Proofreading

The price for a translation is calculated per word, per line or per file. In Germany, it is usually charged per line (55 characters including spaces). For texts under 1500 characters, I usually charge a minimum rate. The price per line varies depending on the type of text, the delivery date and any additional services. After you have sent me the text by e-mail to giulia@damiani-interpreting.de, you will receive a non-binding quote from me within 24 hours.

  • Requesting a translation is very simple: send me the text to be translated by e-mail to giulia@damiani-interpreting.de and I will provide you with a non-binding quote within 24 hours. When preparing the quote, I take into account factors such as the length of the document, the type of text and the delivery date. In order to provide you with an accurate translation, it is also important that I have as much information as possible about the text: who it is intended for, what goal you want to achieve with the text, when you need it by and where it will be published or used.

    If my quote is within your budget, simply send back my quote with your signature and I will start translating for you.

  • Absolutely. I closely follow the ongoing debate on inclusive language and, as a translator, this topic is both salient and enriching for me.

    I will be happy to work out solutions for you to make every person reading your content feel respected, included and at ease.

    In these cases, I find it useful to organise an online briefing so that I get a concrete idea of the readers of your text and can propose suitable solutions.

  • Remember that there is an ethical and deontological code that obliges the interpreter to strictly respect professional secrecy and confidentiality. To protect both sides, I am happy to sign a confidentiality agreement for interpreting and translation assignments.
